Doppelgänger

Monsters play an important role in popular cultures all over the world, and they hold paradoxical purpose. They are the embodiment of the problems which we, as a culture, fear to acknowledge. At the same time,  monsters are the manifestation of the overwhelming desire to face, and look upon, our trauma. In this way, we create the “other”. These entities have various functions in our societies: sometimes they are scapegoats, and sometimes they are the ones who we call upon to overcome our challenges—to vanquish our foes, as in the case of the creatures of this body of work. Through interaction with these spells borrowed from the book  طلسمات طمطم هندی, Doppelganger invites the viewer to think about their perception of the other, their own fears, and the possibilities that facing their fear of the Other can create.
