“ There are some profoundly intimate spaces. The inside of a shoe perhaps. Or the mysterious inside of a woman’s purse, which calls for its Bachelard. Another is the bed. Like the studio it is soaked with the personal; even when empty it crawls with imprints and residues of identity. It puts on the same horizontal plane the torture of sex and the ecstacy of dying. The bed is the noctrural baseline of our vertical endeavours.”

In this project, I embarked on a quest to transform my sleep data into a visual representation akin to a hammock woven from the threads of my sleep stages. To achieve this, I aligned visualizations of my sleep stages side by side to construct a pattern and then translated these colors into weaving patterns, each distinguished by the density of the woven areas.

The core sleep portion exhibits a dense weaving pattern, while deep sleep is moderately dense compared to the core sleep section. The REM stage is characterized by a loose weave, and the Awake part remains almost empty. These distinct patterns come together to form the woven structure of the hammock.
